When the Earth rotates, the side that's facing the Sun is day and the side thats facing away is night. Then the Earth rotates so the other side is day and the previously day side is night. The tilt of the axis makes some parts of the day part of the earth brighter. The southern hemisphere gets less light than the northern hemisphere.

It is spring in the southern hemisphere and fall in Northern hemisphere. The North star is to the right so the next position is winter for the Northern and summer for the Southern. It is equal time for day and night at that position in the orbit.

- When one side of the Earth faces the sun, it is day. The side away from the sun is night.
- The side that is tilted towards the sun is summer or spring. The side away from the sun is fall or winter.
