Warm Ups
10/9/12
Prevailing winds are predictable for latitudes. Local winds are caused by seasons, prevailing winds don't.
10/11/12
Meteorologists use anemometers, thermometers, hygrometers, barometers, and rain gauge. They also use satellites, weather vanes, wind sock.
10/12/12
Trade winds in the Northern Hemisphere travel to the south-west because as the Earth rotates the winds travel the winds are going straight. So to the people on the Earth they would be traveling to the west.
10/15/12
In a high pressure system I would expect to see really cold winds and dry, and in low pressure systems we would have hot and humid winds.
10/16/12
- A wind is formed when air of different pressures are mixed.
- It is 100% cloud covered skies, wind is going from northeast, 25 knots
10/17/12
- When we blow up a balloon, the air pressure inside a balloon increases.
- When we release a balloon, we create a jet-stream.
10/22/12
- The pressure system inside the can was low.
- The pressure system outside the can was high.
10/23/12
- Dallas & Houston are most likely experiencing cold, dry weather because they are in a high pressure area. Seattle, Atlanta, and Chicago have Wet rainy weather because they are in a low pressure area.
- Low pressure: San Francisco, Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, and Seattle. High pressure: Denver, Boston, New York, Dallas and Houston
- Seattle is experiencing high winds.
10/24/12
- The weather is cloudy in low pressure systems because it is hot and humid there. There's more room in the air for more moisture to collect. The water vapor travels up.
- A high pressure system is heading our way. We will have cold and dry. And we will have clear skies.
10/25/12
- An air mass is a large volume of air with the same temperature and moisture content.
10/29/12
- The weather in Dallas,TX is cooler and clear. It is high pressure.
- The weather in Denver, Colorado is rainy, windy, and very cold. Low pressure area with a cold front coming in.Cold front came in and moved through. High pressure system is moving in. Severe storms.
- The weather conditions in Chicago, Illinois is warm and overcast with weak storms.
10/31/12
In the map there is a cold front coming in towards the southeast so they can expect T-storms. There is a cold front leaving the East coast. There is an occluded front coming in towards the north. They can expect light showers and possibly snow. There is a high pressure area in western United States. There is a low pressure area in the northeastern United States. There is a warm front following a northern pattern.
11/1/12
- Because the Gulf Stream current is warm so it heats up the land.
- Hurricanes are areas of low pressure.
11/5/12
- the current temperature in the ocean region
- Clear skies because the air is more dense so there is no room for H2O
- Symbol showing wind speed 15 knots 75% cloud cover and western wind direction
11/7/12
There could be light showers and hot and humid. On Sunday you can expect cold weather and storms right when the cold front is moving through.
